Brussels, 14 February 2022: Representative Tashi Phuntsok and EU Advocacy Officer Rigzin Genkhang met with the UNPO Secretary General Mr Ralph Bunche at the Office of Tibet, Brussels, today. During their one-and-half hour meeting, they discussed five areas of common interest and opportunities to strengthen future collaboration.
Tibet being one of the three founding members of the UNPO, Representative Tashi Phuntsok expressed his desire to see the organisation organise events on the succession of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and the Middle Way Approach sometime later this year.
Mr Bunche is the grandson of late Mr Ralph Johnson Bunche, who was an American political scientist, diplomat and leading actor in the mid 20th century decolonisation process and US civil rights movement. He is the first African American to receive the Nobel Peace Prize in 1950 for his mediation work in Israel.
On Thursday, 11 February, EU Advocacy Officer Rigzin Genkhang participated in the UNPO Presidency meeting, which took place virtually again this year due to the ongoing pandemic of Covid-19. This meeting takes place several times a year and provides an opportunity to discuss the progress, challenges and activities of the organisation.
