Tibetans in Western Europe Donate 18754.90 Euros Toward Covid Relief for Tibetans in Indian Subcontinent

July 8, 2021

Brussels: On May 29 Sikyong Penpa Tsering appealed to Tibetans across the world to actively participate in the Covid-19 related relief of the Tibetans in the Indian subcontinent.

Tibetans in Western Europe, under the Office of Tibet, Belgium have once again stepped up their solidarity in this relief effort. Responding to the appeal, the Tibetan Community in Belgium, France, the Netherlands, and Spain have donated Euros 18,754.90. This amount will be soon transmitted to the Department of Health in Dharamsala.

The Country-wise donations from the Tibetan communities under the Office of Tibet, Brussels are as below:

1. Belgium Euros 12,906.00
2. France 4,170.90
3. Holland 510.00
4. Spain 1,168.00
TOTAL Euros 18,754.90

(Eighteen thousand seven hundred and fifty-four Euros and ninety cents.)

It may be recalled that this region earlier donated 45,530.49 Euros to the PM Care Fund in May.

“I would like to thank the staff of our offices in Brussels and Paris, the Tibetan community leaders and individuals for their contributions in this effort. I believe a sum of nearly 19,000.00 Euros is a tremendous gesture of solidarity, digging deep into their pockets twice within a span of over a month or so,” said Representative Tashi Phuntsok.
