Tibetans in Belgium Join Global Prayer and Memorial Services to Honour Kungo Gyalo Thondup and Ngari Rinpoche

March 19, 2026

Brussels: On Sunday, 8 March, Tibetans in Belgium held prayers to mark the one-year since the passing of Kungo Gyalo Thondup and mourn the recent passing of Ngari Rinpoche, elder and younger brother of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama.

Over hundred Tibetans gathered at Karma Sonam Gyamtso Ling in Antwerpen to attend the prayer service on Sunday jointly organised by Domey, U-Tsang and Regional Tibetan Women’s Association.

The prayer ceremony was presided by Venerable Patrul Rinpoche and by Venerable Metok Rinpoche, Venerable Geshe Tseten and other members of the Sangha.

Lauding the strong participation of the community, Representative of His Holiness the Dalai Lama Rigzin Genkhang thanked the co-organisers and highlighted the significant contributions of both the deceased to the Tibetan freedom movement, calling upon all to honor and uphold their legacy.
