Tibetan Parliamentary Delegation Concludes Europe Tibet Advocacy in the Netherlands

A parliamentary delegation consisting of parliamentarians Geshe Lharampa Atuk Tseten and Yeshi Dolma successfully concluded their official Europe Tibet Advocacy effort in the Netherlands.

On the evening of 10 December 2024, two Tibetan Parliament Members, Geshe Lharampa Atuk Tseten and Yeshi Dolma, met with Tibetans residing in the Netherlands. They gave speeches and held meetings with representatives from four organizations: the local Tibetan association, International Campaign for Tibet, Students for Free Tibet, and Tibet Support Group. The Tibet advocacy programs in the Netherlands were successfully completed.

On 10 December, the local Tibetan community gathered to commemorate the 35th anniversary of His Holiness the Dalai Lama receiving the Nobel Peace Prize. The two visiting MPs gave speeches to the community. The program began with the president of the Tibetan Association, Norbu, presenting a report, followed by Representative Rigzin Choedon of the Office of Tibet Brussels introducing the visiting MPs and giving welcome remarks.

The two MPs spoke about His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s great accomplishments and the work of the Central Tibetan Administration, followed by a Q&A session with the public. The program concluded with closing remarks from the Tibetan Association’s secretary. Additionally, Tibetan students from kindergarten through fifth grade performed traditional cultural dances.

On December 11th, the two MPs met with representatives from four organisations met at the International Campaign for Tibet office in Europe. They discussed future Tibet advocacy strategies, including reports on current Tibet-related activities, ways to strengthen Tibet’s cause internationally, efforts to establish a Tibet Support Group in the European Parliament, and plans to meet with China desk officers at European foreign ministries to discuss the critical situation in Tibet and travel issues affecting Tibetan-Europeans visiting Tibet. The program concluded with a dinner hosted by the International Campaign for Tibet for the MPs and all participants.
