Tibetan Community in Netherland Celebrate 89th Birthday Anniversary of His Holiness the Dalai Lama on 10 July 2024

Netherland: The Netherlands Tibetan Community and Tibetans from various places in the Netherlands grandly celebrated His Holiness’s 89th birthday in Amsterdam on 10 July 2024.

The Tibetan Parliamentarians Ven Thupten Wangchen and Thupten Gyatso attended the occasion as the Chief Guests. The morning session begins with the enthronement of His Holiness’s portrait to the seat, followed by the distribution of Traditional Tibetan Butter Tea and Sweet Rice (Daysil).

The attendees observed prayer sessions for His Holiness, good health and speedy recovery from recent Knee Surgery. The  President of the Netherlands Tibetan Community, Norbu Tsering, welcomed the guests and briefly introduced the objectives and activities of the Netherlands Tibetan Community to the attendees.

Furthermore, the Tibetan Parliamentarians addressed the public on the Gratitude of His Holiness to the Tibetans and the world, CTA’s achievements, the present Tibetan political situation, the preservation of Tibetan culture and language, Tibetan Green books, and other matters. Around 600 people gathered during the celebration.

Netherlands Tibetan Community presented traditional scarves and certificates to the Volunteer Teachers of their Weekend School, Gangjong Rigzod School, from the hands of two Tibetan Parliamentarians. The whole event of His Holiness’s birthday celebration was organised for two consecutive days, with significant participation and cooperation from the Dutch Tibetan public. The Weekend school students presented their Traditional dances and concluded with Tibetan Circle dances.

Additionally, Bureau Office of Tibet, Brussels Accountant Tenzin Nordhen collected the Green Book Contribution ( Chatrel) of the Netherlands Tibetan Community.
