Regional Tibetan Youth Congress in Belgium hosted the celebration of the 87th birthday of His Holiness the Dalai Lama in Antwerp on Wednesday, 6 July 2022.
Secretary Thinley Wangdue was the Chief Guest at the event and MetokRinpoche, Geshe Tseten Phuntsok, leaders from other Tibetan organisations were among the attendees.
Thupten Phelgye, President of the RTYC Belgium presented a brief introductory remark on the occasion and said the organisers feel blessed to celebrate His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s birthday on the exact date instead of rescheduling the date.
Palden, President Tsering of Tibetan Community in Belgium made a strong worded appeal to Tibetans to work sincerely Tim fulfilling His Holiness wishes. He further appealed the younger generation to be more vocal and active on various platforms to shoulder the Tibetan cause.
Secretary Thinley Wangdue greeted the audience and read out the 16th Kashag’s Statement on His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s 87th birthday and meanwhile urged the audience the need to embracing and imbibing His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s practical messages of universal responsibility, harmony amongst various groups, and preservation of Tibetan culture.
The celebration was followed by number of cultural songs and Tibetan circle dance (Gorshe) which was well received by the local youths as well.
Secretary Thinley Wangdue also inaugurated a children’s weekend library called “Little Tibet Library” (གངས་ལྗོངས་དཔེ་ཀློག་ཁང་།) run by Mr. Lobsang Khedup in Antwerpen at the basement of his home with the sole purpose of creating a space for the Tibetan children to have free access on various Tibetan children’s books.
