Representative Rigzin Genkhang Joins Belgian Tibetan Buddhist Centres’ Special Prayer Meet for World Peace Marking the Year of Compassion

Brussels: Rigzin Genkhang, the Representative of His Holiness the Dalai Lama at the Office of Tibet, Brussels, joined a special prayer meet for world peace as the chief guest at Karma Sonam Gyamtso Ling in Schoten, Antwerp on 2 June. The initiative, proposed by Geshe Tseten Phuntsok, founder of Shedrup Tengey Ling, was jointly organised by all Tibetan Buddhist centres in Belgium to mark the Year of Compassion, proclaimed globally in honour of the 90th birth anniversary of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama.

The event was graced with a special message of appreciation from His Holiness the Dalai Lama, which deeply moved the attendees. The gathering brought together members of the Sangha, spiritual practitioners, and the Tibetan community in a collective tribute to His Holiness. Together, attendees offered special prayers for global peace and the long-life of His Holiness.

Speaking on the occasion, Representative Genkhang highlighted the timeless message of peace, compassion and universal responsibility advocated by His Holiness the Dalai Lama, emphasising their vital relevance in addressing contemporary global challenges. She expressed deep appreciation for the centre’s collaborative efforts to promote peace and harmony through spiritual practice and active community engagement and urged the audience to integrate the principles of compassion and mutual respect in their daily lives. The three other speakers including His Eminences Ranyak Patrul Rinpoche, Metok Rinpoche and Venerable Lama Soepa, reminded the gathering that keeping His Holiness’s values alive is a shared responsibility for all.

The event concluded with dedicated prayers for world peace and a renewed commitment to fostering kindness, mutual respect and harmony among all people, embodying the values of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and the spirit of the Year of Compassion.
