Office of Tibet participates in India’s 80th Independence Day Celebration in Brussels.

EU Advocacy Officer greetings His Excellency, the ambassador of India to Belgium, Luxembourg and the European Union

 

EU Advocacy Officer Tenzin Phuntsok, on behalf of the Office of Tibet, participated in India’s 80th Independence Day celebration held at the Embassy of India in Brussels on 15 August 2026.

During the celebration, he met with His Excellency Pranay Kumar Verma, Ambassador of India to Belgium, Luxembourg, and the European Union, and extended warm greetings and best wishes on this special occasion. He also engaged in a light-hearted and cordial conversation with the First Lady about Dharamsala and the presence of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, who turned 91 in July this year.

The EU Advocacy Officer also expressed its deep gratitude and appreciation for the longstanding support extended by the Government and people of India to Tibet and the Tibetan people over the past several decades. It also conveyed its hope and request that India would continue its steadfast support for the just cause of Tibet.

He also met with other staff members of the Embassy and extended greetings and best wishes on behalf of the Office of Tibet. The Embassy staff expressed their appreciation and happiness at the participation of the Office of Tibet in the celebration.
