Belgium based Domey Association for the first time organised an advance Losar celebration in Leuven on Saturday 28th January 2024. The event was attended by His Eminence Taklung Matul Rinpoche, Representative Rigzin Genkhang and the Presidents of the Tibetan Community and other Regional Tibetan Associations.
President of Domey Association, Amchok Jigme, in his opening remarks thanked everyone for their presence and stressed the importance of public support in the political activities led by the Central Tibetan Administration.
Chief guest Representative Rigzin Genkhang extended Losar wishes to the public and reminded them of the unparalleled leadership of His Holiness the Dalai Lama which has firmly propelled the non-violent Tibetan freedom struggle onto the global stage. She therefore urged them to remember His Holiness’ selfless contribution and heed to His Holiness’ constant advice to be a good human being while preserving their national identity.
Tuesday, 02 January 2024, witnessed amid much fanfare the celebration of Sonam Losar organised by Dokham Chushi Gangdruk in the diamond city of Antwerp. Representative Genkhang and other distinguished guests were in attendance.
President of Chushi Gangdruk, Pema Dorjee, wished everyone a good year ahead and urged for the continuation of unity among Tibetans.
While recalling the recent resolution adopted by the European Parliament calling for immediate abolition of Chinese state-run boarding schools, Representative Genkhang urged the younger Tibetans to take their responsibility to continue the Tibetan freedom struggle.
Tenzin Nordhen, Accountant of Office of Tibet, Brussels accompanied the Representative to the function.
In both events, the formal ceremony was followed by cultural songs, dances, poem recital and a ramp walk to showcase traditional Tibetan attire to the delight of the public which had converged from different cities of Belgium.
