Office of Tibet Brussels Joins in Celebrating Taiwan’s 114th National Day.

Brussels, 1 October 2025: The Office of Tibet Brussels attended Taiwan’s 114th National Day reception, joining dignitaries, diplomats, lawmakers, journalists and supporters to celebrate the island’s democratic achievements.

Representative Rigzin Genkhang, accompanied by EU Advocacy Officer Tenzin Phuntsok, took part in the event during which the former expressed warm greetings and a heartfelt welcome to the newly appointed Ambassador of Taiwan to the EU, H.E. Prof. Dr Jhy-Wey Shieh, who in turn expressed his delight and appreciation at the Tibetan delegation’s presence. Representative Genkhang also extended her best wishes for Taiwan’s continued peace, prosperity, and democratic progress.

Throughout the reception, the Tibetan delegation engaged with a wide circle of distinguished guests, taking the opportunity to highlight shared values of freedom, democracy, human rights and peaceful resistance. Such exchanges contribute to strengthening relations and fostering a deeper understanding between the Office of Tibet and other diplomatic missions.

The participation underscored the Office of Tibet’s ongoing commitment to building alliances and nurturing connections within the international community, especially with partners who share a common vision of democracy and human dignity.

It is worth noting that the former Ambassador of Taiwan to the EU, H.E. Lee Roy, had also joined the 90th Birthday Celebration of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama in July, reflecting the warm and enduring friendship between the two offices.
