On 26 October 2024, Secretary Thinley Wangdue and EU Advocacy Officer Tenzin Phuntsok from the Bureau du Tibet, Brussels, attended the commemoration of the 16th anniversary of Jamyang Lophel Sunday School in Antwerp.

The celebration was also attended by Metok Rinpoche from the Himalaya Dolma Buddhist Institute, Geshe Tsetan Phuntsok from the Shedrup Tengye Ling Buddhist Centre, representatives from the regional Tibetan civil societies, and students, teachers and parents of the six Tibetan language schools of Choerig Zinkyong Khang.

The event commenced with the offering of mandalas to His Holiness’ portrait from the chief guest and school’s Director, followed by the singing of the Tibetan national anthem and observation of a minute of mourning for the sacrifices made by Tibetan martyrs. The celebration also featured cultural performances from several student dance groups and a presentation of dialectical debate.

Following that, Jigme, the school’s Director, briefed the school’s annual report and accounts. The gathering was also addressed by chief guest Thinley Wangdue.

Before concluding the formal gathering, three students with outstanding academic performance were accorded excellence certificates and graduating students were bestowed with certificates.
