In a heartfelt show of support, Mounir Satouri, Chair of the Human Rights Subcommittee of the European Parliament has sent a letter of solidarity to the Tibetan people following the devastating earthquake in Tibet. The letter, expressing deep sympathy for the loss of lives and extensive damage, underscores Europe’s commitment to supporting Tibet and its people.
The message of solidarity comes after a productive meeting between the Chair and Representative Rigzin Genkhang of the Office of Tibet Brussels, where key issues including the importance of international support, were discussed.
The Chair calls on the Chinese authorities to accept international assistance so that humanitarian aid can reach Tibet.
The European Parliament remains steadfast in its advocacy for human rights and continues to stand with Tibet, reaffirming its commitment and providing support.
In her reply, Representative Genkhang expressed her deepest gratitude for the heartfelt message of solidarity and support. “Your commitment to standing by us in this time of need is a source of immense strength, and we are profoundly touched by your concern for the welfare of our people. It is through such gestures that we will find the resilience to heal” she continued further.
It may be recalled here, President Emmanuel Macron of France, the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Commissioner Hadja Lahbib on behalf of the European Union, individual lawmakers of the French Senate and the European Parliament and Buddhist groups expressed solidarity and support in the wake of the earthquake that struck Tibet.
