The Tibetan Community in Belgium led the celebration honouring the 89th Birthday anniversary of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
Rigzin Choedon, Representative of the Office of Tibet, and Advocacy Officer Tenzin Phuntsok graced the ceremony as the chief guests, joined by Metok Rinpoche from the Himalayan Dolma Buddhist Institute, Geshe Tseten Phuntsok from the Shedrup Tengye Ling Buddhist Centre, and representatives from the community regional associations.
The offering of Khatags in front of the portrait of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and the offering of mandalas are also included. Afterwards, the students of the Tibetan weekend school sang the Tibetan national anthem and observed a minute of silence in honour of the self-immolators, Pawo and Pamo.
On the auspicious occasion of the birthday anniversary of His Holiness, Palden Tsering, the President of the Belgium Tibetan Association, extends formal greetings. The conclusion of the 9th Belgium Tibetan Association’s three-year term aligns with this year’s birthday, marked by the comprehensive presentation of the work accomplished during this period.
Furthermore, the Chief guest, Rigzin Choedon, underscored the obligation of all citizens to fulfil their responsibilities earnestly. Additionally, she conveyed that His Holiness the Dalai Lama has undergone medical treatment and is recuperating well, emphasising the need for prayers for his swift recovery. Furthermore, she stressed the importance for all Tibetans to cherish the blessings of His Holiness perpetually, the Dalai Lama and endeavour to foster unity among themselves.
