Under Secretary of OOT Brussels Tenzin Nordhen attended the 10th Founding Anniversary of the Belgium Tibetan Community Sherab Nangjay Weekend Tibetan Language and Cultural School at Antwerpen, Belgium as the Chief Guest.
The program commenced with the offering of mandrel to the portrait of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama by the Chief Guest, School Director, and the President of the Belgium Tibetan Community. Wangpo, the School Director gave the welcome and introductory speech followed by Palden Tsering, President of Belgium Tibetan Community.
The Undersecretary expressed gratitude to the former School Directors Tsering Wangpo and Jampa Gyaltsen for their initiative to set up this weekend school 10 years ago to impart Tibetan language and to the present director, staff and parents for their resilience and determination in making so much progress.
He also requested parents to spend time with their children at home and teach the values of Tibetan culture along with the Tibetan script and language without relying only on the Weekend school.
He also highlighted the new policy of CTA on Green Book (Chatrel) and requested to cooperate with the OoT Brussels in achieving maximum participation from the Belgium Tibetan Community considering the poor Chatrel collection last year despite the fact that more than ten thousand Tibetans are residing under OoT Brussels.
The event was followed by Tibetan cultural performance by the students and parents. It was also attended by H.E. Methok Rinpoche and various Tibetan Associations in Belgium.
