Brussels: The Office of Tibet, Brussels, successfully organised its Second Belgian Tibetan Youth Networking Meet over the weekend, bringing together 26 young Tibetans from across Belgium. The gathering aimed to strengthen their sense of identity, unity, and responsibility toward the Tibetan cause while providing a platform for youth to connect and engage with one another.

The event sought to renew and revitalise Tibetan identity among the younger generation living in the diaspora. Representative Genkhang addressed the participants, offering an overview of key issues concerning Tibet and underscoring the crucial role of Tibetan youth in sustaining the movement. She reminded attendees of their responsibilities as the next generation and encouraged their continued involvement in advocacy for Tibet.

Dhondup Gyalpo, Tibetan Liaison Officer for Europe, briefed participants on the ongoing Ghoton celebrations and highlighted meaningful opportunities for youth engagement in upcoming initiatives connected to the celebration.

The program also featured a screening of the documentary “Democracy: The Gift of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama to Tibet.” The viewing was followed by an interactive question-and-answer session with Thinlay Wangdue, Secretary of the Office of Tibet, Brussels, during which the youth demonstrated strong interest and posed a range of thoughtful questions.

Former VTAG–Belgium Coordinator Tenzin Peldon expressed her delight at the participation of many new young Tibetans, while outgoing VTAG Coordinator Sonam Rabten noted the encouraging increase in young male attendees. Representatives from both VTAG and Students for a Free Tibet (SFT) provided updates on their ongoing activities and initiatives.

The gathering concluded with a shared lunch, leaving participants with a strengthened sense of unity and renewed pride in their Tibetan heritage.
